Something To Build Upon

Although results have gone against Ottawa in recent weeks, all but eliminating any chance of a playoff berth, there is still a lot to be proud of for Fury fans.

The one word that I’ve heard Fury coach Marc Dos Santos use time and time again when describing the Fury squad is “character”.  Dos Santos brings in players with character, athletes that not only have skill on the pitch but that are good at working with others, battling as a team on and off the pitch.

As Drew Beckie highlighted best on twitter, while supporting the team from Ottawa while injured, the team has a fantastic mentality to play every minute of every game

The squad has lacked, at times, the final third needed to win games, particularly at the beginning of the fall season.  However the progress they have since made has certainly shown that the mentality and desire to win is there, the talent and skill is there, and next season Ottawa Fury will no doubt be fighting for a top finish in the league.

The mentality behind Fury is clearly driven by Marc Dos Santos, as it is his style of coaching and mentoring that the players seem to enjoy playing under.  Dos Santos has said that if Fury don’t finish fourth this year they better finish fifth, as the desire to win among the squad if very high.

Although it may seem to some there is nothing left to play for this season, there is no doubt Dos Santos and his squad will be looking for a win in every game remaining, trying to finish as high in the standings as possible, ending the season on a high as they continue to build for next season.

Best of luck to the Fury squad as they look to finish the season strong, and continue to show the fans how something special is  being built at TD Place.
